It is like a constant drip, drip now. So many archaeological discoveries and cultural phenomenon which are consistent with the Bible are coming to light. There are far too many to list in a blog post. I feel it is important to share some to keep people aware of what is happening. If you are a strong believer in the Biblical narrative these are things you could be sharing with others. If you don’t believe in the Bible, consider exploring the information on your own. Maybe it’s time to independently look into some of this.

Archaeology

Noah’s ark and the flood is a story that would seem easy to mock. Two by two they entered the ark and then God sent a deluge on the world killing everything. So many challenges exist… Space in an ark for so many animals.. Water above every mountain where did it come from? Where did it go? People who have visited the Ark Encounter in Kentucky can see that many of those challenges have been addressed. However, it is a place that would get mocked by non-believers. Now, more and more evidence is coming up. A location in Turkey (Mountains of Ararat) may be holding an ancient wooden structure fitting the Ark. The “curse tablet” which was found on Mt. Ebal in Israel in 2022. This lead tablet with the ancient Hebrew name for God has many people rethinking their skepticism of the Bible. The story of Joshua taking the tribes of Israel up to Mt. Ebal and Mt. Gerizim is less well known in non-believing circles. They repeated the commands God gave Joshua about staying loyal to the Lord in this land the Lord was giving them. There are many points of skepticism that this find begins to address. First, it is the oldest known Hebrew inscription by hundreds of years. It silences the critics who had claimed the Bible had to have been written much later than it claims. Secondly, some researchers had challenged the whole story of Joshua and the conquest of the land of Israel. They argued it “lacked evidence”. Mt. Sinai in Saudi Arabia. Mt. Sinai is the mountain where Moses received the 10 commandments according to the Bible (Exodus 20:2-17 and Deuteronomy 5:6-21). This much larger-than-life story is known to almost everyone. Famous movies have been made featuring this Biblical story. Books, blogs and documentaries have all cataloged this account from the Bible. Like so many other super-natural and ancient stories from the Bible, the reality of account is frequently challenged. Now, more and more evidence is being uncovered at a location in Saudi Arabia. Jabal al-Lawz is the mountain range that holds some very intriguing clues. The Saudi government had historically guarded this location. This changed after several people crept into the area. They documented what they had found there. Now the Saudi government is opening the area to researchers and explorers. As a result, many artifacts that align with the Biblical narrative are being found. Cultural Understanding

Larry Sanger, co-founder of Wikipedia, philosopher and now a believer in Christianity. Sanger recently announced on his Blog that he is no longer an agnostic in his faith. His story is retold in this interview. It explains how he was led to actually study and consider the claims of the Bible. He used his academic philosophical training to openly investigate (for the first time), the Bible and its claims. Many scientists, researchers, and historians have experienced this journey. Sanger followed this path of considering the Biblical accounts openly. He concluded the Bible was real, historical, and rational. After he began his inquiry, he discovered that many challenges of the atheistic and agnostic world have been addressed. However, those communities have ignored these solutions.

Rosalind Picard is an MIT professor and a recent convert to Christianity. She is just another example of an acclaimed academic who openly researched the claims of the Bible and believed. She highlights that people in her “academic community” believed that science was the sole way to discover truth. Now her view extends to discovering truth beyond scientism. At the same time, her research into the historical and materialistic evidences for the Bible cemented her Christian faith.

Tom Doyle is a missionary to the Middle East and now author and writer. In 2012, Mr. Doyle wrote “Dreams and Visions: Is Jesus Awakening the Muslim World?” which is a book based on his personal accounts of a phenomenon taking place in the Muslim world. In his writing, Mr. Doyle recounts dozens of encounters with Muslim’s who came to faith in Jesus and Christianity through miraculous encounters with Christ in a dream or open vision. Since writing his book, it seems the phenomenon continues and may be actually increasing. In this interview Mr. Doyle talks about the current trend to Christianity in the Muslim world.

Near death experiences are being recounted at an amazing rate in social media. Researchers like Dr. Bruce Greyson, Dr. Jeffrey Long, John Audette, Raymond Moody, Kenneth Ring, and Michael Sabom have spent most of their careers studying this phenomenon. Out of the shadows of obscurity the NDE experience definitely points to something beyond this material world. Accounts by NDE experiencers contain documented observations of physical events in hospitals and operating rooms. These events are observed by people who have been verified as dead. This goes beyond any notion of hallucinations of a dying brain, but factual proof of life beyond physical death. Many, many of these accounts confirm Jesus, Christianity and the Bible. As you can imagine, if the super-natural world of the Bible is true, then the accounts of these people are open to challenge by the Bible. Additionally, non-Biblical accounts are also increasing. The Bible warns that these are from a dark satanic origin. The point of this post is that the materialistic view of the world in only part of the story. I believe God is beginning to openly challenge many of the false beliefs held since the age of Enlightenment (18th and 19th century). That movement was based on intellectual and cultural fervor characterized by a strong emphasis on reason, science, and human progress. It saw the rise of rationalism as a dominant philosophical approach. That world view carried forward into belief in science as the only way to discover “truth”. Materialism became the predominant world-view which removed the search for God or super-natural realities. Now, research, and miracles are revealing the much deeper realities behind this universe, life and the supernatural. To find this truth, all that is required is an open mind and a sincere investigation.
